How to activate a game key
A key adds the game to your launcher account. It shows up on your order page after payment, and you redeem it in the launcher it was issued for.

In short
- Many keys name their launcher in the product or edition title, like Steam or EA App. If yours doesn't, ask support before you pay.
- Keys only work in their own region, which is also in the product name.
- A key can be used once and stays on whichever account you're signed in to.
- Steam keys can also be redeemed in a browser, no client needed.
How to buy on koto
- 1Pick the game, edition and a region that fits your account.
- 2Pay for the order.
- 3The key appears on your order page. Save the link: we don't send emails.
- 4Redeem the key in the launcher as shown below.
Which launcher is it for?
Check the product and edition name. If it says Steam or EA App, that's where the key goes.
If Steam says "Invalid Product Code", check the characters first. Steam suggests looking for lookalikes: 0 and O, 1 and I, B and 8, G and 6. If the key is typed correctly, Steam's help says it isn't meant for Steam.
Steam
Open Steam and sign in. Click the Games menu at the top of the client, choose Activate a Product on Steam... and follow the prompts.
Without the client, enter the key in your browser at store.steampowered.com/account/registerkey.
EA app, Ubisoft Connect and Battle.net
Sign in to the account the game should go to first. Then:
- EA app: open My Library and select Redeem Code. On the web, go to ea.com/redeem, select Redeem, enter the code and select Next.
- Ubisoft Connect PC: click your profile in the top-left corner, choose Key/Code Activation, enter the key and select Activate. Ubisoft warns that several failed attempts temporarily block key activation.
- Battle.net: in the desktop app, click your profile icon in the top-right corner and choose Redeem Code. On the website, use the Redeem a Code box in your Account Overview.
Microsoft Store and Xbox
Microsoft and Xbox codes are 25 characters long. Redeem them at redeem.microsoft.com or in the Store on an Xbox console. Our Xbox guide covers the details.
If the key doesn't match your region
A region-locked key won't activate in another country. Steam shows "Game not available in your territory", Ubisoft Connect shows "This key is not valid in your region". Steam Support can't remove region restrictions.
Don't try a VPN to get around it. Steam says disguising your location breaks the Steam Subscriber Agreement and can get your account restricted. Buy a key for your own region instead.
